Association Events 2024

Dear Association members, the RAA committee is pleased to announce the following planned events during 2024, which hopefully many of you will be able to attend:

Fri 21 June – RAFAT Visit – we have been offered the opportunity for a limited number of RAA members to visit the RAFAT at their new home at RAF Waddington. This will take the form of what many of you will recall as a ‘Corporate Visit’. The day will commence at approximately 0930, end around 1600 and will include briefings, seeing some flying and an eng tour. Places will be awarded on a first-come-first-served basis; if keen, please register your interest via secretary@redarrowsassociation.co.uk

Sat 29 June – Armed Forces Day (AFD)/ Cleethorpes – there will be a RAA reunion to coincide with Armed Forces Day celebrations. There will be an exclusive RAA marquee sited at The Knoll (Knoll St, Cleethorpes, DN35 8LL (close to display datum)) which will serve as a focal/meeting point for RAA members and your guests. Various armed forces related activities will be ongoing throughout the day, including RAFAT, BBMF and Typhoon displays as well as a fireworks display later in the evening. We intend this to be a ‘come and go as you please’ event kicking off at the marquee from about 1230 hrs, such that you can choose to be flexible with your timings. There are no restrictions on numbers; however, our marquee will have tables/seating for approx 50, with additional standing/milling capacity for another 30-40 max) so it would be very helpful if you could indicate your expected party size with secretary@redarrowsassociation.co.uk such that we can avoid any over-crowding! Some restricted access parking will be available (to RAA members only) circa 20-25 mins walk from the Knoll  but names/vehicle details will be required beforehand. Alternatively, general public parking arrangements could be used. There will be plentiful food and drink outlets on the Cleethorpes front but we are also exploring the possibility of providing a hog roast facility close to our marquee and we will publicise further details in due course.

Fri 19 July – Royal International Air Tattoo, RAF Fairford – this is yet to be confirmed but discussions are at an advanced stage with the RIAT organisers to provide the RAA with an allocation of tickets for entry on 19 July. This may (again tbc) include access to an enclosure which we would use as our focal/meeting point. More detail to come on this as and when we get it and, again, any tickets we receive will be awarded on a first-come-first-served basis to RAA members initially, then, dependent on availability/demand, to first (and subsequent) guests. Please register interest, again via secretary@redarrowsassociation.co.uk
