Royal Air Force Waddington’s Wing Commander Collins Portrait. Wing Commander Collins is the Commanding Officer of the Red Arrows Display team who operate out of RAF Waddington

Wing Commander Adam Collins (known as Cos) commands a ‘whole force’ team who deliver a precise, dynamic and world-renowned ‘soft’ power capability in support of national interests, at home and across the globe.

Adam joined the RAF in 1999 having studied Aeronautics and Astronautics at Southampton University. On completion of pilot training, he was posted to the Tornado GR4 and was subsequently selected for an exchange tour with the Royal Australian Air Force flying the F-111. On returning to the UK, he continued flying the GR4 operationally before taking up a staff role with the British Army on promotion to Sqn Ldr. In 2014, Adam was posted to 100 Sqn where he spent 3 years flying the Hawk in an aggressor role, before joining RAFAT as the team supervisor (Red 10) for the 2018 to 2021 seasons.

Adam took command of RAFAT in January 2023 following an operational deployment to Qatar, working in the Combined Air and Space Operations Centre. Adam is married with 2 children; he enjoys keeping fit, light aircraft flying and is currently building a sports car when time allows!
